Science Writing Fellowship
A CoSci + GreenLathe + Public Invention + National Postdoc Association Collab
The Public Invention Science Writing Fellowship provides mentorship and a stipend to a select cohort of postdoctoral researchers in the applied sciences. This project provides a pathway for the practical implementation of the FAIR & OA framework in policy frameworks. Initially developed as a Fulbright Special Project for the Parliament of Uganda Department of Research Services, this science diplomacy approach accomplishes three objectives:
Increase evidence uptake by Members through streamlined systems, processes, publication, and dissemination of evidence;
Identify ways to promote and improve the use of evidence in the Parliament of Uganda;
Develop a framework for improved evidence use through documentation, publication, and dissemination of research findings.
This UVA-hosted project received the largest award ever granted by the Jefferson Foundation. In addition to to the development of a set of innovative assessment frameworks, the study produced findings that pointed to severe gaps in institutional competencies and persistent barriers to transdisciplinary cooperation.
